5 Signs That Divorce Could Be On The Horizon

Nobody likes the reality that their marriage may be over, but the very fact of the matter is that once you recognize that a divorce could be on the horizon, there is no way of getting around that.

Whether that be fighting over trivial things or a lack of intimacy, there are several tell-tale signs that a divorce may be in the cards. With that being said, let us take a look at some factors that could point towards a divorce.

Lack Of Intimacy

This is one of the first things that happen when people no longer feel that they should commit to a relationship. Those nights, albeit in the same room as your partner, keep you up more than the prospect of going to work. That is something I began to notice in my divorce, as the spark was no longer there. Once the flame goes out, it is hard to reignite it.

Trivial Fights

When you no longer love someone the way that you used to, an argument can develop over the silliest things. It is ultimately a sign of discontent that has been brewing under the surface, and the action of staying together only creates further tension. If this is something you recognise that occurs on a frequent basis, it may be the time to get out.

Blaming Each Other

Even if both sides understand that a divorce will come, no one likes to admit that they are responsible. And often, slanging matches emerge with both sides wanting to walk out with their pride intact. In reality, divorce is ultimately a two-player game. Once you realize that, things become a whole lot easier.

Discussing Past Mistakes

Whenever something goes wrong, rather than taking responsibility, in a poor relationship, the past mistakes are often pointed out as a justification for any wrongdoing. Well, ‘you did this too’ is often bandied about. But that clouds the insecurity that is beneath the surface with the couple.

Different Priorities

Getting your priorities straight in a relationship is the difference between make or break. When it becomes apparent that you have different goals, trying to reconcile them is only going to end badly.

One of you may want to start a family, but for the other, pursuing a career may be more worthwhile. Pluck up the courage to stick to your guns and see whether the relationship can survive the test of time.

We all go through difficulties, but if you come across any of these signs, it may be the time for you to think things through.
